POW Beaded Snake

$155.00
sold out

Our snakes are only sold through drops on our Instagram page. For more information, please see @alicetrahantphillips.art or contact us via email.

Handmade in Turkey, these snakes are in the style of POW snakes from 1920s’ WWI. Ottoman prisoners made many items while in captivity as an avenue to earn money to supplement rations. Snakes were a symbol of good luck in parts of South East Europe, so the prisoner of war snakes had a symbolic importance for their makers.

Wear as a necklace, long or short; a cuff bracelet; a hat wrap; or handbag accessory - the options are endless!
